You don't know the braking or turning points on the track, the instructor does. You are there to learn how to navigate the track, the instructor is there to show you how to do it.
If you have a problem with the instructor's advice, you talk to them through your communication system or pull in and talk about it, not 'trust your gut' and do what you think is right.
If you spun when he told you to gas, you weren't set up out of the turn properly. You should tell this to the instructor, that's why they are two-way communicators. You know next time how to exit that corner.
I have run with many instructors, some which I frankly hated, with others we had a blast, but I learned from each session, got faster, and never blamed an instructor for my mistake.
